Haarlem to Farm | Guided Bike Food Tour 4-8 persons
We step on our bikes to to source the ingredients for the perfect hamburger. Sustainable, made with passion and f*cking tasty!
Like a bunch of Dutch cowboys we climb on our steel horses to explore the area, visit sustainable (urban)farms and ranches looking for the tastiest ingredients. What about ranch Sinneveld in Santpoort-Zuid where cattle have been kept since 1568, or the urban nursery gardens and a care farm to give people with disabilities a way of living. All wonderful examples of regenerative and often bio(dynamic) farmers with their hearts in the right place for animals, plants, people and microbes.
Along the way we tell you all about the history and culture of the area and you regularly get to taste something from the neighborhood. Naturally, the farmers will also tell you all about their philosophy and wonderful businesses. The agricultural environment of Haarlem is characterized by reclaimed land, old beach walls, dunes and rivers.
We start at the bicycle staple (Rent-a-Bike Haarlem) near the Central Train Station and cross water, forests and farmland to pedal from snack to drink. Than we visit an urban farm to harvest organic veggies. We bike on and learn all about the special breed of cows that protects birds and taste craft beers (or soft drinks) when we get out of the saddle. All the ingredients we find on our trip are collected and used for our Haarlem Hamburger at the last stop of our tour.
So saddle up, push the metal and experience Boer ‘n Burgers on a Bike on the Haarlem prairie! We stay within a radius of 5 kilometers from the city, in the wild of nature. We stop regularly en route for tastings at farms, breweries and bakeries. At the end of the tour our grillmaster will use his kamado BBQ to prepare the perfect hamburger. Topped with local craft beers and drinks.
